Expansion; The 1.5 inch ID primary pipe shall not expand more than 2 cc/ft for every 25
psi between the pressures of 50 psi and 100 psi. This permits accurate readings from in-
line,
nline, pressure sensitive, leak detection. (All testing at room temperature).
Termination's; .All piping termination's should be within contained, accessible, sump
areas to facilitate testing and inspection after installation.
Bend Radius; 1 1/2" ID Co-flex piping is capable of a 24"bend radius, the 2" ID Co-
Flex bend radius is 36"without cracking, kinking or breaking. On site air temperature
does effect the flexibility during installation, the piping is more pliable when warm. In
extreme cold weather, pipe should be stored in-doors prior to installation. If using the
"Direct Connection" clamps, it may be necessary to warm pipe ends prior to tightening
clamp. Call Western Fiberglass for cold weather clamping instructions.
Please see product technical data for additional information.
PIPING ROUTE DESIGN:
Flexible piping system routes and excavation requirements are quite different than for
traditional ridged pipe. Direction changes are made with"sweeps" rather than 90's or
45's. In most installations, pipe trenching requirements are reduced.
Thermoplastic hose (pipe) has different physical properties than those of FRP (fiberglass)
or steel pipe. Like FRP, and even steel pipe, it can shrink and/or stretch depending on the
temperature of the liquids within or external conditions. It reacts to changes in the
temperature of the air or ground.
When installing flex pipe systems, it is good practice to increase pipe run length
requirements by 5-10%to allow for pipe contraction and any errors or changes that may
have been made in distance measurements.
Series,Pressure Systems or Vacuum/Suction piping runs between sumps can be
continuous, with the piping originating from one sump and passing through or to
additional sumps until termination.
Series routing is most desirable for pressure systems, the piping system runs from the tank
sump to each successive dispenser. All piping termination's should be within enclosed
sump areas and are not direct buried. Single and or dual pipe lines can be installed to
accommodate any total number of product dispensers.
