Suction system routing may require direct runs where each dispenser is connected.to the
tank sump via it's own pipe line or through a manifold(s) inside of a transition sump(s)to
reduce pipe run lengths.
Co-Flex, flexible piping, may be installed, for installation ease and for future removal, if
required, within a rockgard conduit or chase such as CPVC, which can also accommodate
piping sweeps.
Flexible pipe can be installed through the conduit simply by pushing the pipe through or
tareading a cap with an"T' bolt to the pipe termination fitting and attaching a pull rope or
cord. Co-Flex may be installed within the rockgard/conduit, chase prior to installing into
trenches and connecting to containment sumps.
If direct buried, Co-Flex pipe routing may require"Crossover Supports", to prevent
chafing at the point of intersection of each pipe run. Crossover junctions of the piping
runs may also be necessary to maintain dispenser product sequence.
PIPING TRENCHES:
Trenches should be have a minimum of one and one half pipe or rockgard/conduit
diameter spacing between each pipe run and trench wall.
Because the reduced annular/interstitial, volume of the Co-Flex Secondary Containment
Jacket enhances the leak incident communications of Co-Flex, coaxial/double wall pipe,
trench sloping requirements for Co-Flex differ from ridged, FRP, systems. Please see
P.E.I. RP 100-97 for suggested sloping information.
The recommended backfill and trench bed material is rounded pea gravel 1/8"to 3/4" in
diameter. Clean sand may be used. Do not use sharp or rough edged aggregates as they
may damage or cut pipe, jacket. Use extra care when installing pipe at"Retro-Fit" sites, be
sure there are no sharp objects on or left in the piping trench(s).
A 4"- 6" bed of recommended backfill material, free from any debris, is placed in the
piping trench prior to installation.
Direct bury Co-Flex piping installed under reinforced concrete surfaces of a minimum of
4" (100mm)thickness require a minimum cover of 6" (150 mm) of the recommended
backfill material.
