• Prior to site mobilization activities, stockpile areas will be designated
on site for the temporary stockpiling of impacted soil.
• Establishment of an exclusion zone and support zone. Only project
personnel will be allowed within the exclusion zone. The support
zone will be the area where equipment maintenance will occur and
other non-direct related project personnel will be allowed access. If
non-direct related project personnel require access into the exclusion
zone, the on-site HSO will accompany the individual.
• Subcontractor lay-down area. The earth-moving subcontractor will
select a location within the exclusion zone where equipment, storage
bins, materials, and sanitary facilities can be placed to facilitate the
work. The lay-down area will be at a sufficient distance away from the
active work area.
9.2.2 Site Access
The site is closed to the public and will have placement of fencing and
signs around the site to prevent unauthorized entrance. Site security will
be limited to fencing, locked gates, and signs. Site workers should not let
in any unauthorized visitors. Also,if unauthorized persons are spotted on
site, the site control contact should be notified, who will then convey the
information to the client.
9.2.3 Buddy System
Once on site, employees must enter the field office trailer and complete a
tailgate safety sheet before beginning work (sign-in). The buddy system
should be used when possible. When conditions require an employee to
work alone, they should call and check in with their point of contact upon
arrival to, departure from, and at a minimum interval of every 2 hours
while working on site. The point of contact must be identified before
work begins and will usually be the individual assigning the task. The
PM or HSC may serve as alternate points of contact.
9.3 GENERAL SITE RULES
The following general rules will be adhered to at all times:
® All personnel entering the site must sign in.
® All individuals entering the site must demonstrate to the FSO that they
have been adequately trained as defined in Section 3.
ERM 9-3 DEERE/129740-9/29/2011
