AGE-NC Project No 96-0254 <br /> Page 2of17 <br /> The Modesto, Riverbank and Turlock Lake Formations and overlying Recent alluvium are the <br /> principal sources of domestic ground water in the 13,500-square mile San Joaquin Valley Ground <br /> Water Basin (Basin 5-22) This basin is drained primarily by the San Joaquin River <br /> 2 2 LOCAL GROUND WATER SETTING <br />' The nearest surface water feature in the vicinity of the property is the Old River approximately <br /> 1,300 feet north of the site Ground water at the site is currently encountered at a depth of <br /> I approximately 6 to 8 feet below surface grade (bsg), and has a northerly now direction Ground <br /> water occurs in a generally silty clay extending from surface grade to the total depths of the wells <br /> Apparently discontinuous sand layers occur sporadically across the site, from approximately 8 feet <br /> Ibsg to 12 feet bsg and from approximately 14 feet bsg to 18 feet bsg <br /> 23 WELL SURVEY <br /> A survey of ground water wells was conducted on 08 September 2000 Four ground water wells <br /> 1 • within 2,000 feet of the subject property were identified as described below Additionally,nineteen <br /> ground water monitoring wells were observed at 3 different locations <br /> Domestic Wells According to Mr Joe Toste, Jr ,the property owner, there are two domestic water <br /> wells on Toste Road, one on-site (2450 Toste Road) and the other at 2480 Toste road, these wells <br /> supply water to the site and the businesses located on Toste Road The on-site well is completed to <br /> a total depth of 220 feet bsg and contains a well screen from 195 feet to 220 feet bsg, a copy of the <br /> well driller's log is included as Appendix A The well located at 2480 Toste Road is approximately <br /> 300 feet southwest of the site According to Mr Toste,this well is completed to a total depth of 200 <br /> feet No other information could be obtained regarding this well or two other domestic wells <br /> observed at 2040 and 2120 Grant Line Road A summary of all visually observed wells located <br /> during the reconnaissance is included in Table 1 <br /> Threatened Well The on-site domestic water well at 2450 Toste Road is located just beyond the <br /> southern margin of the contaminant plume and up-gradient of the former dispensers and UST area <br /> This water well was sampled during the first and second quarters of 2002 for total petroleum <br /> hydrocarbons quantified as gasoline and diesel(TPH-g and TPH-d),benzene,toluene,ethylbenzene, <br /> total xylenes (BTEX) and seven fuel additives None of the analytes were detected at or above <br /> laboratory reporting limits in the samples collected <br />' Advanced GeoEnviron mental,Inc <br />
