STATE OF CALIFORNIA GEORGE DEUKMEJIAN,Governor
CALIFORNIA REGIONAL WATER QUALITY CONTROL BOARD-- '.a
CENTRAL VALLEY REGION ..
3443 ROUTIER ROAD
SACRAMENTO,CA 95827-3098ZZ
Oy(\j
11 r
t 4
22 September 1989 sv 4t it"
MIs. Diane Hinson
Registered Environmental Health Specialist
Environmental Health Division
San Joaquin County Department of Public Health Services
Q.Q. Box 2009
Stockton CA 95201
FORMER ISC WINES SITE, 1 WEST TURNER ROAD, LODI, REVIEW OF CASE FILE
On 13 September 1989 we obtained copies of all available information for this
site. This information includes the analytical results for soil and ground
water samples taken at this site. Approximately 10,000 cubic yards of soil
were removed form the tank excavation. Hydrocarbons have not been detected in
soil samples from the bottom of the excavation or in ground water samples
obtained from the excavation and the on-site monitoring wells.
Because much of the on-site work has been conducted by the site owner, some of
this work has not been performed with the degree of supervision and
documentation that is generally desired for this type of remedial action.
However, we believe that the work performed has been conducted in good faith
and to the best of the owner's ability. Based on the volume of soil removed
and the analytical results from the recent soil and ground water samples, we
believe that the extent of contaminated soil has been removed from the former
tank cavity. However, the contaminated soil currently stockpiled on-site is
an issue that must be dealt with separately.
To verify that ground water has not been impacted, we recommend that an
additional round of samples be obtained from the monitoring wells. Provided
that the analytical results from these samples confirm that ground water has-
not been impacted, we recommend that the excavation be backfilled with
uncontaminated soil .
If you have any questions, please call me at (916) 361-5731.
THOMAS D. PEETIER
Engineering Geologist
TDP/tdp
