26 October 2000
AGE-NC Project No. 98-0466
for laboratory analysis. Surface soil samples will also be collected in the latter area to assess for
TPH-mo and target metals.
Ground water has been reported at a depth of approximately 35 feet bsg (Dames & Moore, April
1999, Quarterly Groundwater Monitoring Report - March 1999) in well DMW2, located on the
southern portion of the site, approximately 1,200 feet south of the westem ditch area, 1,300 feet
southwest of the warehouse (southern) septic leach field, and 2,650 fet south-southeast of the
Millworks (northern) septic leach field. Ground water was encountered in soil borings in the same
general area as DMW2 at approximately 30 feet bsg by AGE during aIrevious investigation of a
former UST site in 1999. Additionally, ground water was encountered. in one soil boring in the
Millworks septic leach field at approximately 40 feet bsg by AG during the June 2000
investigation. However, one soil boring advanced to 45 feet bsg near the Maintenance septic leach
field was unsuccessful in reaching ground water due to refusal.
3.2. SOIL AND GROUND WATER SAMPLING
AGE proposes to advance seven soil hollow-stem auger borings at the site as part of site assessment
activities. Proposed boring locations are illustrated in Figures 2 and 3.
Soil samples will be collected at 2 feet bsg and at 5-foot intervals from 5 feet bsg to total depth,
approximately 40 to 50 feet bsg, depending on the occurrence of saturated soil samples. Ground
water samples will be collected near the top of the saturated zone, anticif ated to be at total depth in
the borings. The shallow soil borings will be advanced to between 10 and 15 feet bsg. The soil
samples will be analyzed for the analytes noted above and specified belo in Section 4.6. A report
of findings will be prepared and will be reviewed and approved by a Califgmia Registered Geologist.
Properly preserved soil and grab ground water samples will be stored in a chilled container pending
shipment, under chain-of-custody, to a California Department of Health Services (DHS)-certified
analytical laboratory. Soil sample duplicates will be visually described in accordance with the
Unified Soil Classification System on boring logs recorded in the field.
4.0. PROCEDURES
Samples will be procured for the additional soil and ground water investigation utilizing a truck-
mounted, hollow stem drill rig equipped with 8-inch diameter hollow-stem augers. The procedures
presented below for advancement of soil borings and collection of soil and ground water samples
will be modified as site conditions warrant with PHS-EHD approval.
Advanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc.
