J
County of San Joaquin — Public Health Service
February 14, 1994
:Page 2
and disposed. A site remediation report was submitted to the RWQCB and PHS/EHD on May 28,
1992.
Copies of all correspondence, reports, and analytical data regarding this site have been
submitted to PHS/EHD. However, as agreed in 1989, it is AFP's understanding that the RWQCB
is the lead regulatory oversight for this project. AFP has always been fully responsive to and
cooperative with the RWQCB and the PHS/EHD. However, the most recent letter from PHS/EHD
+'implies that AFP has failed to take the'appropriate'corie' Give action when, as described above, AFP
submitted its Remedial Action Plan to PHS/EHD approximately four years ago and has never
received comments until now.
American Forest Products has shown through its previous actions, a willingness to meet
regulatory requirements. However, AFP views the most recent correspondence from PHSIEHD as
inconsistent with previous agreements between RWQCB, PHSIEHD, and AFP.
