Groundwater sampling was conducted in accordance with procedures described in the
Work Plan dated September 14, 1998 The sampled monitoring wells were purged using
a submersible pump, which was steam cleaned prior to use The wells were purged until
a minimum of three casing volumes were removed from each well, and until the
field-measured temperature, pH, and specific conductivity stabilized Purged
groundwater was temporarily stored in a polyethylene holding tank The wastewater was
disposed into the American Molding and Mill Works sanitary sewer system in
accordance with the Special Permit for Wastewater Discharge
Water samples were collected using disposable polyethylene bailers A new bailer was
used at each well One duplicate groundwater sample (MW-50) was collected at DMW-
5 The duplicate sample was collected in the same manner as the primary sample,
following collection of the primary sample
Certified clean one-liter glass sample containers and 40 mL VOAs, supplied by the
laboratory, were used during the collection of groundwater samples The samples were
placed on ice immediately following collection, and kept in coolers until delivery to
laboratory
' 2.2 Laboratory Procedures
Groundwater samples were analyzed by Acculabs, Inc , located in Davis, California The
samples were analyzed for TPH-D using EPA Method 8015M with silica gel cleanup
Samples were also analyzed for VOCs and fuel additives using EPA Method 8260B
Copies of the laboratory reports are attached in Appendix B
3.0 RESULTS AND DISCUSSION
This section presents the results of the fourth quarter 2001 monitonng event
3.1 Data Validation
The laboratory report provided by Acculabs was reviewed by URS's data validation
group in order to ensure that the reported data results are usable The data validation
report is included with Appendix B All data were determined to be acceptable for use
4 K 1840MAFP14Q01_rpt doc
