S E C O R ---- __
• System has removed significant SPH.
Rusty then discussed the addition of the soil vapor extraction (SVE)wells to the remedial system
at the site:
• SVE was recently started.
• Start-up sampling and weekly monitoring is underway.
• Due to high concentrations, only 4 wells are currently able to run.
• As site conditions allow, more of the SVE wells will be added.
Robert Traylor asked which wells were currently running.
Dan answered that the four wells were ASVE-1, -2, -3, and -6. All 4 are located under the Delta
View Apartments.
Rusty stated that the next step in ongoing remedial action is the excavation scheduled for
Monday August 29, 2005.
Robert stated that the excavation work scheduled for the Unocal OU is not approved by the RDA.
Mary Serra asked"Why stop remediation that was previously approved by the RWQCB?"
Robert stated that there are no cleanup goals established.
Kitty added, all parties want to do a"Data Gap Assessment"first.
Rusty stated that the L&M Group is prepared to start work on the 29`h and the assessment Kitty is
referring to is separate from the excavation and will not preclude excavation work.
Mary stated that cleanup levels were established in the work plan and asked"To what level and
how Deep?"
Rusty answered to 50 parts per million (ppm)field screened using a photionization detector(PID).
This level was the same as the L&M OU excavation also approved by the RWQCB.Also the
excavation will go to approximately 14 feet below ground surface(bgs).Any product found will be
skimmed during excavation activities.
Robert stated that the L&M OU excavation went to 50 ppm on the PID and "dug up the whole
site."
Tracy stated that the plan is to start Monday, August 29`h and to carry out the RWQCB approved
work plan.
Mary stated that deadlines in letters from the RWQCB are not the same as dates issued in a
cleanup and abatement order. They are, however, a way for RWQCB staff to keep the project
moving forward.
Mary asked"What is the schedule for moving forward?"
3
