LOCK DOWN <br />(Imminent danger to staff or students) <br />NOTIFICATION <br />Office will announce, "We are now in a lockdown. No students will be released until further notice. " <br />RESPONSE <br />1. Students and staff inside remain in the classroom, office, gymnasium, library or cafeteria. <br />2. Students and staff outside: <br />A Stop, drop, and listen. Students should not move unless directed by a site official. <br />B Staff look around. If it appears safe, take charge of nearby unattended students and direct them to <br />a safe location. (Arrange in advance which class you might go to.) <br />3. Once students are in the classroom, close all windows, window coverings (if available), skylights, <br />and doors. Lock doors, Cover windows, and Turn Off lights. Display colored card in window (or <br />under door): <br />• Green card signaling attendance taken, all accounted for. No immediate help needed <br />• Yellow card signaling attendance taken, student(s) unaccounted for. No immediate help needed. <br />• Red card signaling need for immediate emergency assistance (immediate action required to <br />address threats to human life, health, safety or property). <br />If green or yellow card is displayed, barricade door. <br />If no card is displayed, the police will treat the room as if it is displaying a red card. <br />4. Students duck & cover under desks and tables or form and utilize inner barricade. <br />5. Use e-mail as the primary form of technology to report to the office or other classrooms (note: <br />2. Parents will pick up students only at the designated pick up area, and must sign out their student at <br />the pick up area. <br />Follow the site Crisis Communication Checklist to ensure the following tasks are properly <br />supervised: <br />• Supervision of students <br />• Parent Notification by phone <br />• Traffic Control: prevent vehicles from blocking traffic lanes <br />Verification of emergency card information <br />Release of students to parents: student release forms on clipboards for parents to fill out <br />EMERGENCY STUDENT RELEASE <br />
