"I -he <br />RAPID SIA' system consists of the <br />next larger size of pipe and special <br />two-piece fittings. Do <br />not use US -1014 adhesive of) <br />product (primary) piping. <br />SECTION 2 <br />PREPARATION . ASSEMBLY <br />•Pipe. Preparation, <br />RAPID SEV pipe is manufac- <br />tired with plain ends. The ends of <br />containment pipe must he ma- <br />chined or thoroughly sanded for a <br />length of at least 3". Any surface <br />irregularities must he removed. <br />This is most easily accomplished <br />by using a Model 2100 power tool <br />available from Smith Fiberglass. <br />Preset at the factory, it carr scarf 3" <br />and 4" RADII) SET pipe. Refer to <br />Bulletin No. 1:6625 for operating <br />instructions. Containment pipe <br />can also he scarfed using a Smith <br />Fiberglass Products secondary con- <br />tainment scarfing adapter kit. This <br />kit consists of a special blade (3%" <br />long), orange, <br />hlade holder, ;X", <br />allerr wlet)( 11, and <br />V and 4" gauges <br />which are re- <br />quired to set the <br />2"-6" Snrith <br />Fiberglass <br />I'roducts standard <br />tapering tool. A <br />6" secondary con- <br />tainment scarfing <br />adapter kit is also <br />available. I hc' <br />kits can he aclapt- <br />Rulletin No. 621 55 <br />Auqust 15, 1993 <br />ect to the 2"46" Snrith Fiberglass <br />Products slandaid tapering tool <br />(see Rulletin No. 17O600). <br />Assen)ble the proper size man- <br />drel and orange scarfing blade <br />holder following the steps in <br />Rulletin No. 116600. Rotate the <br />tool hociv so that the blade holder <br />is at a 12 o'cl()ck position (see lig. <br />1 ). This assures that the blade will <br />rest on top of the gauge. <br />Slide the proper sire gauge all <br />the wav to the back of the man- <br />drel. Insert the special blade into <br />the blade holder all the wav to the <br />hack of the tool hods. After posi- <br />tioning the black reference mark <br />on the gauge under- the blade, be <br />sure the blade makes uniform con- <br />tact with the gauge and that the <br />hlade holder is resting on the <br />blade. <br />Using the nuts, bolts, and wash- <br />ers supplied, tighten the blade <br />holder to secure the hlacle.
