OANCHORING TAN*
Tanks must be anchored in locations where water could
enter the hole.
Xerxes Century -Cast FRP pre -shaped straps must be
used when a tank is to be anchored. Two straps are
required for 550 gallon (2.1 cu. meters) through 6,000
gallon (23 cu. meters) cylindrical tanks; except the 6,000
gallon, 6 foot diameter (23 cu. meters) tank which has
four straps; four straps for 8,000 gallon (30 cu. meters)
through 15,000 gallon (57 cu. meters) tanks. Six straps
are required for the 20,000 gallon (76 cu. meters) tank.
• ,,
. m
s • • Y ••; ,r ..•
• • • . :' • • ,.., i • ; ,• • is • ....
(0-4) stenciled on tank.
An alternative method is to clamp the cables at the top
of the tank. In this method, triple clamp a cable to each
end of the strap, thread each cable around the anchor
or deadman, and triple clamp the cable ends at the top
of the tank. The cable must rest on the top of the hold-
down strap between the guides provided. Adjust ten-
sion on cables evenly.
r
Anchor points must be located less than 4.5 feet (1.4
meters) from the tank centerline on 8 foot (2.4 meters)
diameter tanks, 3.5 feet (1.1 meters) on 6 foot (1.8 meters)
diameter tanks, 2.5 feet (0.8 meters) on 4 foot (1.2 me-
ters) tanks or 6 feet (1.9 meters) on the 10 foot (3.0
meters) diameter tanks.
The anchors must be secured in concrete and attached
to the hold-down straps with wire cable (see table II)
using at least three cable clamps.
Tank
Spherical
Cylindrical
Wire Rope
Diameter
3/8" (10mm)
'/2" (13mm)
Tensile Strength
9,000 lbs. Connect the cable
and strap with a turnbuckle, then tighten uniformly with
other straps.
