AUG -30-1996 15:05 OLKEY'S ENGINEERING • P.14 <br />Personal Protective _Equipment <br />Based on the hazard analysis for this project, the following personal protective <br />equipment will be required and used: <br />1. Construction boots will be worn in the work area. <br />2. Safety glasses will be used around hazardous chemicals and when breaking <br />pavement, grinding, drilling, and as otherwise needed for eye protection. <br />3. Ear plugs will be used around operating equipment. <br />4. Hard hats will be used when working underneath anything, <br />5. Rain suits will be used in inclement weather. <br />6. Chemical resistant gloves, overalls, boots and rain suits will be used when <br />hazardous chemicals may be encountered. <br />7. Orange or red shirts/vest and flags will be used for heavy truck and equipment <br />traffic control, <br />8. LEL monitors will be used to monitor and detect hazardous chemical vapors <br />and/or explosive vapor concentrations. <br />9. Respirators will be used in the presence of hazardous chemical vapors. <br />Environmental Monitoring Plan <br />The potential hazards identified in the hazards analysis portion of this plan shall <br />be monitoring during construction and in conformance with an Environmental <br />Investigation Safety Plan. <br />Monitoring for flammable concentrations of gases and vapors will be conducted <br />using an LEL monitor while any underground work occurs at the site when gases and <br />vapors may be present. <br />Medical Surveillancerequirements <br />Medical surveillance is conducted as a routine program. There will not be any <br />special medical tests or examinations required for the stag involved in this project. <br />Site Control Measures <br />Safe work practices are to be employed during the entire progress of field work <br />and are as follows_ <br />Hold a weekly safety meeting at the start of the work shift, and as additionally <br />needed, as determined by the Site Safety Officer. <br />4. <br />
