Set up, assemble and check out all equipment for integrity and proper function <br />before entering the restricted work area and prior to starting each work shift. <br />3. Do no use faulty or suspect equipment. <br />4. Use only new or intact protective clothing, when required. Change the suite, <br />gloves, etc. if they tear or become damaged. Decontaminate or dispose of <br />clothing if it becomes contaminated. <br />5. Practice contamination avoidance at all times. <br />6. Do not use a hand to wipe sweat from the face. Use a clean towel or paper towels <br />when there is a possibility of exposure to contamination. <br />7. Wash hands, face and arms as soon as possible upon exiting from the exclusion <br />area, and prior to taking rest breaks, lunch break and leaving the site at the end of <br />the day. <br />8. Do not smoke, eat or drink while in the exclusion area. <br />9. Check in and out with he Site Safety Officer upon arrival or departure from the <br />site. <br />10. Perform decontamination procedures completely as required by this SSHP. <br />11. Notify the Site Safety Officer immediately if there is an accident that causes <br />injury or illness. <br />Decontamination will take place in the decontamination area identified on site. <br />All workers, personal protective equipment, and heavy equipment leaving the exclusion <br />area will be decontaminated, if exposed to contamination, to prevent the spread of <br />hazardous materials. All workers will wash their face, hands and arms after removing <br />personal protection equipment and prior to leaving the site. Contaminated disposable <br />items will be bagged for disposal along with other hazardous wastes removed from the <br />property - <br />Support vehicles are to be left outside the exclusion area so that decontamination will not <br />be necessary. All heavy equipment will be cleaned prior to removal from the site. <br />Because of the expected containment of contaminants there are no special emergency <br />decontamination procedures anticipated for this project. <br />Emergency Procedures <br />In the event of an emergency on site, the Site Safety Officer will direct the course <br />of action. It may be necessary that the Site Safety Officer call for emergency assistance. <br />As soon as it is practical, the Site Safety Officer will contact all concerned; the owner, <br />agencies and individuals. All staff assigned to this project will be briefed on the <br />procedures and responsibilities for the implementation of emergency action. <br />The Site Safety Officer is trained in first aid and CPR. A first aid kit and fire <br />extinguisher will be located on the command truck. The nearest telephone is located on <br />site.
