0
Oil, Heating OK
Oil, Lubricating OK
Sodium Chloride (5%) OK
Sodium Hydroxide (20%) OK
Sulfuric Acid (10%) OK
Toluene OK
Water, Distilled OK
Xylene OK
*Requires post curing
For a more comprehensive listing,or to select a lining system for specific corrosion problems or immersion
conditions, consult IECC's Product Resistant Data Guide, or call for technical assistance.
2.6 Application of EnvirolineTM 125U Epoxy UST Lining
2.6.1 Before applying EnvirolineTM 125U UST lining material, inspect the surface to ensure that an SSPC-
SP 5/NACE 1 white metal finish has been obtained.Check for a gray white uniform colorwith a minimum 3
mil anchor profile. The surface must be free of any visible dust, dirt, oil, grease, rust, scale or other foreign
matter.
2.6.2 Personnel who handle, mix and/or supply EnvirolineTM 125U must be knowledgeable of IECC's
procedures for the safe use of epoxy resin compounds. Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) shall be
available on site for all IECC products used during the tank lining process. MSDS's must also be made
available for solvents and other potentially hazardous products used during the operation.
2.6.3 EnvirolineTM 125U must be preheated to 950-105°F prior to mixing.Using a mixing blade designed
to IECC's specifications, mix thoroughly for 3 to 4 minutes, until color is uniform.Caution:do not over mix or
shear the material.Mix at approximately 400-600 rpm.For best spray pattern, product temperature should
be 105*-110°F. For severely pitted areas, add 2%xylene into mixed product, squeeze into the deep pits,
then follow with applying the remaining coating to meet the required thickness.
2.6.4 Spray the entire interior surface of the tank to a minimum of 100 mils and a nominal thickness of
125 mils using an airless pump (45:1 minimum compression ratio).
2.6.5 One (1) unit of product covers approximately 41 square feet at 125 mils thickness. It may be
necessary to mark off quadrants in 41 square feet sections to obtain the proper coverage at the desired
thickness. Use a wet film scale to periodically measure the thickness during application.
2.7 Curing EnvirolineTM 1250 Lining
2.7.1 Allow 10-12 hours of curing time at 77°F and/or until a minimum Barcol Hardness reading of 70 or
Shore D Hardness of 75-80 is reached. For tank temperatures less than 77°F, necessary time to ensure a
complete cure may exceed 24 hours and/or until a minimum Barcol Hardness reading of 70 or minimum
Shore D Hardness of 75-80 is reached.
2.7.2 When it is necessary to compensate for cold temperatures, post curing the lining is
recommended, using a direct-fired portable air heater. Heat ambient tank air to 180-220°F, using a
minimum 300,000 BTU air heater;place a flexible hose from the heater into the tank and direct the heated
air toward both ends. Post cure a minimum of three (3) hours until a minimum Barcol Hardness reading of
70 gauge or minimum Shore D Hardness reading of 75-80 gauge is reached.
2.7.3 Eliminate any sources of flammable vapors in the work area if a heater is used to accelerate the
curing process.
2/99
