Section 5
Conclusions
1. The written instructions provided by IECC for using their material for the
internal lining and repair of underground storage tanks are at least as stringent
as the recommendations of API 1631, and in some respects are more stringent
or more detailed.
2. Observations of tank lining operations by two different crews in two different
locations showed that they carefully followed the procedures recommended by
API 1631. Their level of safety consciousness was exemplary in both cases.
3. Review of a report of an internal inspection and ultrasonic wall thickness
survey found that the inspector followed the requirements of the State of
California, which are more demanding than API 1631, in every detail.
4. The IECC fining process meets or exceeds the requirements of the accepted
industry standard presented in the American Petroleum Institute (API) ,
Publication 1631, "Recommended Practice for the Interior Lining of Existing
Steel Underground Storage Tanks," as required by the Federal EPA Standard.
Therefore, the internal lining should be expected to extend the life of a steel
underground storage tank by at least 10 years, at which time it is to be
internally inspected in accordance with the requirements of 40 CFR Part 280.
W-Aw6c"4W-M 14
