1
Ms. Lorrie Putu1a
Page 2
April _18, ,1987
5. Subsurface soil investigation and soil sampling at north -wall of
the existing excavation (4 feet±) south the nursery property line
fence. Soil samples will be taken only when San Joaquin County Local
Health District staff is present. Forty eight (48) hours notice
will be -given to the San Joaquin County Local Health District office
by Mr. L. Alex Moldenhauer, P.E_., T.T.I., the project engineer.
Samples will be taken in prescribed standard procedures, sealed,
held in cold storage, and delivered to Eureka Laboratory within 24
hours of extraction.
a`) T.T.I. will provide an engineer and geologist on-site when
excavation and sampling _ is performed and will maintain a close
chain of custody.
b) Excavation will be made in 3 to 5 feet horizontal -increments
from the existing wall face northward a minimum of six feet (6')
and to a depth to be determined by the engineer and San Joaquin
County Local Health District staff.
c) A polypropolene sheet will be ,placed on the bottom of the existing
excavation from the north face of the existing excavation twenty
feet (20'±) south so that rolling earth will be contained on
the polypropolene sheet.
d) Excavated earth will be hauled to a location on the A. T. & T.
parking area and placed on a polypropelene sheet laid on the
A. C parking pad.Earth piled as described above will be covered
with a vapor barrier sheet of material that meets the San Joaquin
County Air Quality Control District's requirements. Stored earth
will be disposed of later in a manner approved by the San Joaquin
County Health District and/or -San Joaquin County Air Quality
Control District.
e) As the layered excavation proceeds north, a minimum of four (4)
soil samples will be taken every three (3) to five (5) feet of
horizontal distance. It is estimated that eight (8) to twenty
(20) soil samples will be taken during this work.
f) Soil samples __will_ be sealed, placed into cold storage, and
delivered to Eureka Laboratories, Sacramento, California, within
24 hours after extraction.
g) A three dimensional map will be prepared showing excavation limits,
sample locations, and laboratory results.
h) A geological classification of the soil from the drill holes
and excavated material will be prepared and shown on a three
dimensional diagram.
