The primary hazards of each are identified as follows: <br />Certain components of gasoline (BTE&X etc.) are known or suspected carcinogens. <br />The following additional hazards are expected on-site: Operation of excavator and back hoe and <br />various other equipment. <br />The following substance(s) or hazards are known or suspected to be on-site. <br />Substances, involved <br />Gasoline compounds <br />2. Benzene, toluene, ethyl <br />benzene and xylene (BTEX) <br />The primary hazards of each are identified as follows: <br />Gasoline compounds - Components of gasoline are colorless liquids with strong aromatic <br />petroleum hydrocarbon -like odors. They are flammable and have low solubility in water. <br />Exposure to these materials in excess of recommended exposure limits can cause mild eye, <br />nose and throat irritation and can produce a narcotic effect on the central nervous system. <br />Symptoms of exposure at these concentrations include headache, nausea, drowsiness, <br />dizziness and loss of coordination. <br />2. Benzene, Toluene, Ethylbenzene, Xylene (BTE&X) - Common additives to gasoline, these <br />components are colorless liquids with strong aromatic petroleum hydrocarbon -like odors. <br />They are flammable and have low solubility in water Exposure to these materials in excess <br />of recommended exposure limits can cause mild eye, nose and throat irritation and can <br />produce a narcotic f effect on the central nervous system.
