The respirator furnished shall provide adequate respiratory protection against the particular hazard for which it is designed. Each respirator shall be individually assigned and not interchanged between workers without cleaning and sanitizing. The cartridge 1 filters shall be changed after seven (7) daily uses. More frequent changes shall occur at the first sign of breakthrough based on contaminant warning properties or the user experiences excessive breathing resistance. Employees are responsible for dating new cartridges when they are replaced. A dot is to be placed on each cartridge with a "Sharpie" waterproof marker each day the respirators are used. After seven dots are accumulated, the cartridges are to be replaced. Respirators shall be cleaned and stored in an uncontaminated sealed container after each use. All employees who have the potential of wearing a respirator shall be fit tested to ensure they utilize the proper size respirator. Personnel that are unable to pass a fit test as a result of facial hair or facial configuration shall not enter a work area where respiratory protection may be required. 6.7 Levels Of Protection The level of Personal Protective Equipment must correspond to the level of hazards known, or suspected during a specific activity. 6.7.1 Modified Level D: Modified Level D equipment, used as appropriate, is as follows: • Nomex Coveralls (6oz). • Regular Tyvek coveralls. • Outer gloves: leather, cotton, neoprene or nitrile. • Inner gloves: latex or nitrile. • Petroleum resistant covers over the work boots. • Sturdy work boots. • Hard hats.
