SITIT Site Health and Safety Plan
nnnnn Service Station # 000
S. J. WEAVER
CONTRACTING ZZZZZ XXXXX, CA ccccc
Portable fire extinguishers shall be provided for employee use and selected and distributed based on the
classes of anticipated workplace fires and on the size and degree of hazard, which would affect their use.
Fire protection includes fire extinguisher, fire hoses, buckets, water hoses, hydrants, etc. All fire
extinguishers used on our job sites will be ABC rated. All fire extinguishers should be inspected
monthly by the project Foreman. Discharged extinguishers shall be refilled by a local vendor as soon
as is practical.
The Project Foreman will be notified as soon as a fire is discovered; notification will not be delayed
awaiting results of application of portable fire extinguishers. Successful extinguishment of a fire
depends on the following conditions being met:
• The extinguisher is properly located and in working order.
• The extinguisher is of proper type for the fire.
• The fire is discovered while still small enough for the extinguisher to be effective.
• A person ready, willing and able to use the fire extinguisher discovers the fire.
11.3 Flammable Liquids and Solvents
Never use flammable liquids as a solvent. In lieu of solvents or a flammable liquid, special safety
solvents / degreasers are available that have high flammable limits.
Always provide adequate ventilation when using a solvent. Solvents generally have good "warning
properties", in that they have an odor. When the odor becomes strong or overpowering, then
ventilation is not adequate. An explosion meter monitor may need to be used to monitor the explosive
level of the atmosphere. The following major hazards should be considered prior to solvent use:
Approvals
Proiect Foreman Date
Site Safety Officer (SSO) Date
Project Manager
Date
Supervising Safety Officer (SO) Date
ARCO construction Superintendent Date
S.J.
