2.0 Notifications Version :27.10.4 <br /> Communications <br /> Shell recognizes the media's legitimate interest in emergency situations and benefits from cooperation <br /> with them. This cooperation promotes rapid and accurate reporting of the facts, and dispels rumors <br /> and exaggerated accounts which can frequently occur. <br /> When to Notify <br /> Communications should be contacted when there is: <br /> . A fatality or serious injury <br /> . The potential for significant environmental damage <br /> . A potential need to evacuate <br /> . Substantial property damage <br /> • News media involvement or the possibility to attract media attention <br /> . Inconvenience to the public <br /> • Is a charge of Shell negligence, and/or <br /> . A need for Communications support, as determined by the Incident Commander. <br /> Responsibility <br /> The Communications contact: <br /> • Provides advice and counsel to the Incident Commander <br /> . Assists in determining the need for on-scene Communications support <br /> .
