• Containers must always be closed during storage, except when waste is added or <br /> removed. Additionally, containers must not be handled,opened,or stored in a mannerthat <br /> may cause leak. <br /> • Containers holding ignitable or reactive wastes must maintain a buffer zone, i.e., must be <br /> located at least 50 ft (15 m)from the facility property line. <br /> • Maintain containers and tanks in good condition (no severe rusting, apparent structural <br /> defects or deterioration) and free of leaks. <br /> Additional temporary storage options are provided in Table 1. The onsite waste accumulation time <br /> limits are as follows: <br /> • On-site storage of used oil shall not exceed one year for generators. <br /> • LQG — may accumulate hazardous waste onsite for 90-days or less <br /> • SQG — may accumulate hazardous waste onsite for 180 days or less; up to 270 days if <br /> transporting for offsite treatment, storage, or disposal over 200-mile distance. SQGs are <br /> allowed to accumulate only 6000 kg or less of hazardous waste at any time. <br /> • CESQG — hazardous waste storage time limit not applicable <br /> WASTE DISPOSAL <br /> Procedures for disposal options differ for different types of wastes. Depending on the type waste, <br /> off-site disposal options can include one or more of the following: <br /> • Recycling <br /> • Reprocessing/Refining <br /> • Landfarming/Bioremediation <br /> • Open Pit Burning <br /> • Incineration <br /> • Landfilling <br /> The final disposal option will be selected based on the following factors: <br /> • Whether the waste is solid or liquid <br /> • Whether the waste is oily or non-oily <br /> • Whether the waste is hazardous or non-hazardous <br /> • Quantity of waste <br /> • Capacity of treatment and disposal options <br /> • Adequacy of temporary storage <br /> • Cost and time requirements of treatment and disposal <br /> • Frequency of handling <br /> The site will ensure waste treatment or disposal at one of the following: <br /> • Permitted or interim status hazardous waste TSDF <br /> • State hazardous waste facility <br /> • State permitted, licensed, or registered, solid waste disposal facility <br /> • State MSWLF <br /> • Recycling facility <br /> 5 <br />
