Limited Site Investigation Proposal 1rerracon
Loves Truck Stop & Country Stores . Lodi, California
March 10, 2011 . Terracon Proposal No. 60110040
Drilling equipment will be cleaned using a high-pressure washer prior to beginning the project
and before beginning each boring. Non-dedicated sampling equipment will be cleaned using an
Alconox° detergent wash and potable water rinse prior to commencement of the project and
between collection of each sample.
Soil samples will be collected continuously using Shelby tubes, core barrels, or split spoon
samplers to document lithology, color and relative moisture content. In addition, the samples
will be field screened using sensory methods and a photoionization detector (PID) to detect the
presence of VOCs.
Following completion of sampling activities, borings will be closed in place in accordance with
applicable state regulations and guidelines. In the event there are no applicable state
regulations or guidelines, the soil borings will be backfilled with bentonite pellets, then hydrated
and grouted to the surface.
Investigation Derived Waste
Pending the results of the laboratory analyses, the investigation derived waste (IDW, will be
stored temporarily onsite in appropriately labeled 55-gallon Department of Transportation (DOT)
approved drums. The drum labels will identify the apparent contents of the drum and the initial
accumulation date.
Transportation and disposal of removed soil cuttings and/or development water and other waste
materials are out-of-scope services and not included in this proposal. Terracon anticipates
generating approximately one drum of soil, groundwater, and/or equipment cleaning water
during the LSI activities. Terracon would be pleased to provide a separate proposal for such
services once a final volume of waste is determined. Given the site location and conditions, and
based upon prior experience, Terracon estimates that the costs for disposal will be
approximately as follows: (i) analytical results for disposal is ' imple (ii) on-site disposal of
clean material is drum; (iii) transportation and disposal of non-hazardous materials is
approximately drum; and transportation and disposal of hazardous materials is
approximately drum.
Sampling Program
Terracon's soil and groundwater sampling program will consist of the following:
a Collection of one soil sample from each soil boring from the zone exhibiting the
highest PID readings. If, based on these observations, no elevated PID reading
is observed, the sample will be collected from the capillary fringe zone, from the
interval exhibiting a change in lithology, from the bottom of the boring, or from the
3
Reliable ■ Responsive ■ Convenient ■ Innovative
