1941. KAISER PERMANEWED - Central Valley Area <br />3.4.4. Staff in these departments will support other staff in the department in <br />the spill clean-up process. During clean-up the buddy system is a <br />requirement. <br />3.4.5. Consult with EH&S if there is any difficulty or question determining if the <br />spill is an incidental or emergency size spill. <br />3.4.6. Small spill volumes are as follows: <br />Product Incidental Spill Volume <br />Acids Less than'/2 cup <br />Bases & Caustics Less than '/2 gallon / 1.9 L <br />Bleach Less than '/2 gallon / 1.9 L <br />Flammable Liquids Less than '/a gallon / 1.9 L <br />Formaldehyde Less than % cup / 180 ml <br />Glutaraldehyde Less than'/2 gallon / 1.9 L <br />Any petroleum product Up to 5 gallons <br />3.4.7. Maintain the appropriate hazardous materials emergency spill kits in <br />their department. All employees in the department will be trained in the <br />proper use of these kits for small spill clean up. The department will be <br />responsible for purchasing and restocking of supplies. <br />3.4.8. Don personal protective equipment required according to the type of <br />spill. At a minimum, the following should be used: <br />• Nitrile gloves - (2 pair — user must always be double gloved). <br />• Chemical resistant gloves (To be worn over double set of nitrile <br />gloves). <br />• Impermeable suits <br />• Goggles <br />• Face shield <br />• Surgical mask <br />• Shoe covers <br />3.4.9. Dispose of all spilled clean-up materials/waste according to Hazardous <br />Materials and Waste Management, EC.HZ.039. <br />3.4.10. The Chief Engineer, Support Service Leader, or Designee will <br />complete the Spill/Splash/ Release Reporting Form EC.HZ. 056B and <br />submit to the next Hazardous Materials and Waste Workgroup meeting <br />for review. <br />3.4.11. The Chief Engineer, Support Service Leader, or Designee will <br />complete a Responsible Reporting Form (RRF) with details of the spill. <br />3.4.12. The Chief Engineer, Support Service Leader, or Designee will ensure <br />annual spill response training consisting of written and hands on <br />portion, occurs for all staff members. <br />3.4.13. Department is responsible for maintaining all training documentation <br />and must have it available for any survey or regulatory agency that <br />requests it. <br />3.5.
