Occasionally an employee may confront a <br /> situation in which an unplanned task <br /> requires potential exposure to blood or <br /> body fluids . <br /> 2 . The employee should remember to always <br /> obtain a protective barrier before <br /> proceeding with the task. <br /> 3 . The employee should always notify their <br /> immediate supervisor if an unplanned task <br /> involving blood or body fluids has been <br /> encountered . <br /> 4. The supervisor of an employee who <br /> encounters an unplanned task involving <br /> blood or body fluids shall determine <br /> appropriate documentation as mandated by <br /> facility and SOP °s . <br /> 5 . The employee should always remember good <br /> handwashing techniques after all category <br /> I tasks . <br /> C. Employees Should familiarize themselves with <br /> and understand all the requirements for work <br /> practices and protective equipment specified <br /> in Standard Operating Procedures relevant to <br /> the tasks they perform. <br /> 1 . Employees should refer to their own <br /> procedure manual for appropriate <br /> practices . <br /> 2 . Employees should refer to the immediate <br /> supervisor regarding appropriate <br /> procedures . <br /> d . Employees should be aware of where protective <br /> clothing is kept, how to use it properly, and <br /> how to remove , handle , decontaminate , and <br /> dispose of contaminated clothing or equipment. <br /> 1 .
