2. Hammer Lane and Tam O'Shanter Drive
It is recommended that Hammer lane be widened
locally t'o allow three through lanes in each
direction , and, that the northbound and
southbound dbprdaches of Tam O ' Shanter be
widened to accommodate an additional turning
lane. The Kaiser project contributes 80% of
the future cumulative traffic that requires
widening of this northbound approach from
three to four lanes. There would need to be
a dual left turfing lane for the northbound
approach.
3. Hammer Lane and State Route 99 East Frontage
Road
Add dual left-turn lanes on eastbound and
northbound approaches , with right-turn
pockets on all approaches . A diamond
interchange with on-or off-loops for the
.heavy turning movements at this location
would best serve the projected traffic flows.
4 . Hammer Lane and State Route 99 West Frontage
Road
Hammer Lane needs to be a six-lane facility,
and a new interchange constructed would best
serve the projected traffic flows. However,
capacity calculations indicate that the
existing interchange will. probably work
without failing.
5. Hammer Lane and Lorraine Avenue
Dual right turns on the southbound approach ,
three through lanes on each direction of
Hammer Lane, and a right-turn pocket on the
nortbound approach would best serve the
projected traffic flows.
6. Hammer Lane and West Lane
Three through lanes in each approach , with
dual left-turns for each approach, and right
turn pockets for each approach . This
mitigation was suggested by the city, and is
a major project in the planning stage.
27
