11 <br />1ST <br />Threatened Release <br />Document Number: 909 R 5003 <br />Rev: 12 Date: 1/22/13 <br />Any employees and/or Contractors who notices that a container containing a <br />hazardous material may release any or all of the contents, should immediately notify <br />the nearest supervisor/security. Examples of threatened releases include: <br />• drum or container with noticeable bulge <br />• cylinders with broken valves <br />• containers and cylinders with hissing sounds that may indicate build up of <br />pressure <br />• partially filled drums that have been punctured above the level of the liquid <br />and/or pipes connected to hazardous materials that show signs of breaking <br />When making notification, the employees and/or Contractors should give as much <br />information about the incident as possible. Examples of the type of information <br />needed include: <br />• where is the container in question <br />• name of hazardous material <br />• reason for thinking that there may be a release <br />• any other information that may help the supervisor and the facility incident <br />team. <br />The supervisor should immediately notify security and relay as much information about <br />the threaten release as possible. Security should notify the BATCH / FURNACE AND <br />TECHNICAL Managerdesignate. If it is determined that a release is imminent, a <br />number of responses are available depending upon the material. Controlled Version appears in OS9000 database. <br />Copies without a RED "Controlled Document" stamp will be OBSOLETE 24 hours from 10/7!2013 8:47 AM <br />
