The
supervisor should relay as much information about the release as possible to security
and/or EHS / BATCH FURNACE AND TECHNICAL Manager(s).
• Investigate the incident to either confirm and/or gather additional
information.
• Notify the incident response team (i.e. several drums of oil have spilled).
• Notify security that an urgent situation is in progress (chlorine cylinder is
leaking) and request security to implement facility's emergency response
plan.
Due to the various types of chemicals present, chemical specific response procedures
have been developed for acutely hazardous materials. Refer to the section in this plan
for appropriate action.
Emergency Response Plan for Acutely Hazardous Materials
Chlorine
Chlorine gas has a distinct odor that can be readily discern by employees and/or
Contractors. An employee and/or Contractor who either sees a chemical plume or
detects a strong chlorine odor in the general areas that the chemical is stored/used
should immediately notify the closest supervisor.
H:\profile\My
Paper Copies are
Copies without a RED "Controlled Document" stamp will be OBSOLETE 24 hours from 10/7/2013 8:47 AM
e cylinders at sanitary
Response Procedures.doc
gars in QS9000 database.
