Box 2009
Stockton, CA 9520.1
SUBTITLE D REGULATION COMPLIANCE - AUSTIN ROAD LANDFILL
This is in response to your November 2, 1993 letter asking how we
plan to comply with the Subtitle D requirements at Austin Road
Landfill.
Item 1. SUBTITLE D EXEMPTION. Does not apply.
Item 2. AIRPORT LOCATION RESTRICTION. The Austin Road Landfill
lies within 10, 000 feet of an existing runway end used by
turbojet aircraft.
The operator of the landfill is using various bird
repelling devices, including "cracker shells" and a "bird
cannon" to make sure birds are not a hazard to passing -
aircraft.
Past LEA inspection reports demonstrate the operator is
in compliance with the vector and bird control
requirements.
item 3. HAZA RD DUS 'WASTE LOAD CHECKING PROGRAM.
• The entrance to the landfill is signed "NO
HAZARDOUS MATERIAL". The scale operator has been
told to check for hazardous waste at the scale
1 house. The equipment operator at the working face
has also been told to watch for loads containing
hazardous waste. Periodically, the Senior
Technician and the operator do random load -checks
for infectious and hazardous wastes.✓
• All inspection records are available for review in
the Solid Waste Division located at City Hall.
"STOCKTON ...
