Box 2009 <br />Stockton, CA 9520.1 <br />SUBTITLE D REGULATION COMPLIANCE - AUSTIN ROAD LANDFILL <br />This is in response to your November 2, 1993 letter asking how we <br />plan to comply with the Subtitle D requirements at Austin Road <br />Landfill. <br />Item 1. SUBTITLE D EXEMPTION. Does not apply. <br />Item 2. AIRPORT LOCATION RESTRICTION. The Austin Road Landfill <br />lies within 10, 000 feet of an existing runway end used by <br />turbojet aircraft. <br />The operator of the landfill is using various bird <br />repelling devices, including "cracker shells" and a "bird <br />cannon" to make sure birds are not a hazard to passing - <br />aircraft. <br />Past LEA inspection reports demonstrate the operator is <br />in compliance with the vector and bird control <br />requirements. <br />item 3. HAZA RD DUS 'WASTE LOAD CHECKING PROGRAM. <br />• The entrance to the landfill is signed "NO <br />HAZARDOUS MATERIAL". The scale operator has been <br />told to check for hazardous waste at the scale <br />1 house. The equipment operator at the working face <br />has also been told to watch for loads containing <br />hazardous waste. Periodically, the Senior <br />Technician and the operator do random load -checks <br />for infectious and hazardous wastes.✓ <br />• All inspection records are available for review in <br />the Solid Waste Division located at City Hall. <br />"STOCKTON ...
