You also asked how the City would
maintain the landfill while it is temporarily closed.
The City is working on completing the sale of the landfill to Allied Waste North America.
We estimate that the sale will close by April 1,(
Austin Road Landfill stopped receiving waste on November 1, 1999. From now until
closing of the sale, the landfill will be operated and maintained by Forward, Inc.
The City is aware that additional work needs to be done to prepare the landfill for the
rainy season. Please be assured that the City will do everything within its control to see
that that is accomplished. Mike Miller will keep you updated on our progress.
JAMES B.
