A pollutant liquid spill could involve such substances as leachate, wastewater, diesel fuel, <br /> or industrial solvents. <br /> b. Determine amount of liquid, type of liquid, its characteristics (e.g.,, is it flammable?), and <br /> source of the spill. <br /> 2. Take Safety Precautions <br /> a. Provide first aid to any victims. <br /> b. Call 911 if emergency assistance is required and provide the following information: <br /> (1) Tell them you are reporting a spill/exposure to potentially hazardous liquid. <br /> (2) Your call may be routed to another person, tell them: <br /> Facility Name: Austin Road Landfill <br /> Location: Austin Road between Arch Road and French Camp Road <br /> (3) Describe the exact location of the spill, number of persons, etc. <br /> (4) Do not hang up the telephone unless you are told to do so. <br /> 3. Provide Information <br /> a. Call the California Regional Water Quality Control Board (1-916-255-3131) and the State <br /> Department of Health Services (1-415-540-2043) and tell them the nature of the spill and <br /> its location. <br /> d. If possible, identify the spilled waste so as to improve the degree of safety and <br /> effectiveness of cleanup. Take proper precautions to avoid a dangerous, life-threatening <br /> or environmentally damaging situation. <br />
