Surface water samples are also analyzed for the following COCl every 5 years: • Total Organic Carbon • Inorganics (dissolved) • VOCs(extended list) • Semi-Volatile Organic Compounds • Chlorophenoxy Herbicides • Organophosphorous Compounds Constituents of Concern Both groundwater and surface water samples are analyzed for constituents of concern(COCs) every five years (Appendix E). The last five year COC groundwater monitoring event occurred in the fourth quarter of 1999. The next monitoring event will occur during the fourth quarter of 2004. Surface water samples were last analyzed for COCs during the first quarter 2000 monitoring event. The next monitoring event for surface water will occur during the first quarter of 2005; however,water will be sampled if available in early 2004. Statistical Analysis The FSL has been approved to use interwell tolerance limits methods(up-gradient well provides the background data). Analytical results from this monitoring period were compared to the concentration limits shown in Table 1. As requested by RWQCB staff, stiff diagrams are included (Appendix F). MONITORING RESULTS Groundwater Well MW-2R was available for sampling during this semester. Monitoring and Field Parameters Chloride concentrations in LW-1 and MW-3 slightly exceeded the concentration limit. The sulfate concentration in LW-1 exceeded the concentration. The Nitrate as nitrogen concentration in MW-3 slightly exceeded the concentration limit. A release from the landfill is unlikely due to these indications. Although these concentrations are above the concentration limit,we note that they are below the drinking water standard(California DHS). The County will monitor concentrations of these constituents quarterly.
