VOCs
All VOCs reported were also reported in quality control blanks and are therefore "false positives".
p p
These compounds included:
• Acetone Chloromethane and Methylene Chloride in wells MW-1 and MW-3
• Acetone was in well MW-2R
• Acetone and Methylene Chloride in well LW-1.
Surface Water
There was no flowing water during the second semester monitoring event.
GROUNDWATER FLOW DIRECTION
Groundwater levels were measured in monitoring wells MW-1, MW-2R, and MW-3 during the
third and fourth quarters of the calendar year. Groundwater was determined to flow towards the
southwest(Figure 3). The groundwater gradient is 0.0019 foot per foot, calculated from the
contours drawn.
STANDARD OBSERVATIONS
Regular site inspections were performed during the second semester of 2003. A summary of the
standard observations for the semester has been compiled(Appendix G). A signature on the form
certifies that all observations were performed and are accurate.
RUN-OFF/RUN-ON FACILITIES
The Foothill Sanitary Landfill utilizes several methods to control run-on and run-off. The natural
topography of the area controls any run-on into the site. Also, the working area is a significant
distance from the property boundary, so run-on from surrounding properties is minimal. To
control run-off, a perimeter ditch along the north, west and east ends of the unit directs all storm
water run-off into a sedimentation basin on the east side of the site. The rest of the run-off from
the unit gathers into a temporary sedimentation basin that is the excavation of a future module.
There were no breeches to any of the run-on/run-off facilities during this monitoring period. They
will continue to be monitored in the future.
R
" Foothill Sanitary Landfill 4 Department of Public Works/Solid Waste
2ND Semester/Annual 2003 Groundwater Monitoring County of San Joaquin-January 30,2004
