7.4.2. Recycling and Volume Reduction <br />A minimum amount of recycling is conducted at the site. Plate 2.1 shows the locations on the <br />landfill where different recycled materials are stored. The following special wastes, if received, <br />are stored on site and periodically removed: <br />• Tires - Stored on a tire trailer provided by Waste Recovery West and removed as needed. <br />• CRTs - Stored in bins and transferred to Lovelace Transfer Station. The CRTs are <br />presently removed from the transfer station by a commercial recycler. <br />• Inerts -Demolition — Masonry materials (bricks, concrete block) and broken concrete that <br />has value for offsite use by others. This material is stored in a stockpile and periodically <br />removed from the site by individuals who have a use for the material. Some of this <br />material may be used to construct roads or winter pads, as needed. <br />The Operator provides the County with records of the quantities of recycled or salvaged <br />materials (Table 5). Scavenging is not currently allowed at the site. <br />0 7.5. EQUIPMENT <br />The following equipment is present onsite at the current time (August 2005): <br />• Two Landfill Compactor <br />• Two Earth Scrapers <br />• Two Ripper Dozers <br />• One Backhoe Loader <br />• Two 3,000 Gallon Water Trucks <br />The minimum equipment needed for operation of the facility consists of the following: <br />• One Compactor <br />• One Scraper <br />• One Dozer <br />• One Water Truck <br />Foothill Sanitary Landfill Page 51 of 62 Public Works/Solid Waste <br />JTD County of San Joaquin — Revised 10/6/05 <br />
