and needs and resolve any potential issues. This will ensure our performance meets the
standards required by the County and allows us to work as a cohesive team in the further
development of your electronics waste Program.
Additional Services
In addition to providing collection, transportation and recycling services for electronics waste
collected from households at the County Solid Waste Facilities, Onsite Electronics Recycling
proposes to provide additional services to the County, its residences and businesses. The
following are options which will be available for electronics services within the County:
• Business Generated Waste—Onsite Electronics Recycling will provide recycling services
to businesses within the County for all regulated electronics waste at no cost. Businesses
will be allowed to bring up to 10 monitors to the Lovelace Transfer Facility without
appointment. Those businesses which have more than 10 monitors to dispose of will be
asked to make an appointment. A local phone number will be provided for businesses to
call to set a time to bring their electronics. In order to provide convenient, flexible
service to businesses, if they do arrive without an appointment, Onsite Electronics
Recycling will make every attempt to accommodate them. Electronics waste covered by
SB-20 will be accepted at no cost to the business, those not covered by the Electronics
Recycling Act will be accepted for a fee.
• Non-profit Waste—Many non-profit organizations receive donations of electronics waste
which they cannot use and therefore, end up with scrap electronics. Onsite Electronics
Recycling will allow these organizations to bring their waste electronic devices to the
Lovelace transfer facility for recycling. As with businesses, these organizations will be
asked to make an appointment if they have more than 10 units. Electronics waste
covered by SB-20 will be accepted at no cost to the business, those not covered by the
Electronics Recycling Act will be accepted for a fee.
• At Home Pickups—Onsite Electronics Recycling recognizes that some citizens, including
the elderly and handicapped, do not have a feasible means of transporting their
electronics waste. Therefore, we will provide at home pickup service for those in need at
no charge. In addition, if residents prefer at home pickup, versus bringing their
electronics to the facility, Onsite Electronics Recycling can provide this service to any
resident at a fee of$35 per pickup location(with a limit of 5 monitors per pickup).
• Public Outreach and Education — As a newly regulated waste, many residences are
unaware that CRT devices are considered hazardous materials. Thus, the education of
the public is necessary to ensure that improper disposal does not occur. Onsite
Electronics Recycling will work with the County to develop and distribute education
material to residences within the County. This material will explain the hazards, and
provide information on proper disposal of these materials.
San Joaquin County Proposal Page 19 of 22
