NOTIFICATION TO GENERAL PUBLIC <br />The County has developed an advertising and educational program <br />regarding household hazardous waste. The advertising program includes <br />distribution of brochures, billboard advertisements and other forms of <br />advertisements within San Joaquin County (Exhibit 1). . <br />B. SIGNS <br />Signs are posted at the entrance of the scale house to identify prohibited <br />waste (Exhibit 2). County's web site also has the information with visual <br />aids to inform the general public. <br />® C. NOTIFICATION TO COMMERCIAL HAULERS <br />Commercial haulers are provided with proper notification regarding the <br />prohibited waste at FSL when they establish an account with the County <br />(Exhibit 3). Approximately ninety percent of the refuse disposed at FSL is <br />hauled by licensed haulers from transfer stations within the County. <br />Wastes transferred from the transfer station are screened under transfer <br />station's own exclusion program; thus, minimizing the concern for <br />hazardous waste at FSL. <br />D. VERBAL NOTIFICATION <br />Each customer is asked by the scale house staff the type of waste being <br />brought in and the origin of the waste. The customer is then asked if they <br />have any prohibited waste in their load.
