Leachate will continue to be pumped into the evaporation pond
during the post -closure period.
During the post -closure period for the entire Forward landfill, an automatic
pumping system will be installed to pump leachate directly from each permanent sump
to the leachate evaporation pond. The volume of recovered leachate and depth of
leachate in each sump riser pipe will be recorded on a quarterly basis during the
post -closure maintenance period. A composite sample of leachate will be collected and
tested from the leachate pond on a quarterly basis. Leachate will continued to be
pumped and monitored throughout the post -closure maintenance period until leachate is
no longer being produced or the leachate analysis results show that discharges of
leachate will have no impact on water quality, subject to regulatory approval.
3.4.7 Groundwater and Vadose Zone Monitoring
Title 27, CCR §21769(c)(2)(F)(4)a discussion, including a map, of groundwater
and unsaturated zone monitoring programs for the closure and post -closure
maintenance periods...
The current groundwater and vadose zone monitoring activities (see Section 2.2)
will continue into the 30 -year, WMU B post -closure maintenance period on a quarterly
basis.
