WMU D-99 construction September 1999 <br /> Forward Landfill Job No.986011.02 <br /> As-built drawings of the HDPE liners for the WMU D-99/Eastern Ash Pit <br /> and the Class II Leachate Pond have been prepared and are included in Exhibits <br /> 6 and 7, respectively. <br /> 5.4.8 Liner Vents for the Class 11 Impoundment <br /> The wind vents shown on the construction drawing of the Class II <br /> Leachate Impoundment were modified from hooked pipes to patch type wind <br /> vents. Approval of this modification was provided by the design engineer <br /> (CH2MHill). A letter of approval for the vent modification is presented in <br /> Appendix N. <br /> 5.4.9 Lysimeters for the Class 11 Leachate Impoundment <br /> Two Soil Moisture, Inc. suction lysimeters were installed below the leak <br /> detection sump of the Class II Leachate Impoundment. The pressure tubing and <br /> sampling leads were brought up the slopes within PVC pipes to two vault boxes. <br /> The lysimeters were installed in accordance with the plans and specifications. <br /> Two additional lysimeters were installed as a backup system below the detection <br /> sump for a total of four lysimeters. Tests performed by Kleinfelder, Inc. indicated <br /> that the lysimeters were functioning properly at the time of installation. <br /> 5.4.10 Well Abandonment <br /> An existing monitoring well that was located within the boundary of the <br /> Class II Leachate Impoundment was abandoned and relocated to the south. <br /> Kleinfelder, Inc. conducted the well abandonment in accordance with the <br /> approved plans. <br /> 5.5 Geocomposite Installation <br /> A geocomposite was placed above the HDPE liner as a leachate collection layer <br /> on the side slopes of WMU D-99. Double geocomposite was also placed over the <br /> Easter Ash Pit Closure.
