Contractor shall be responsible for protection of these utilities and shall take all necessary <br /> precautions by constructing barriers, bridges, and crossings for construction equipment and <br /> vehicles to prevent damage to the utilities or as required by the Engineer. Any damage or loss <br /> caused by the Contractor's operations shall be promptly repaired at the Contractor's expense and <br /> to the satisfaction of the Engineer. <br /> 1.8 Water Pollution Control <br /> Contractor is not required to obtain a NPDES Construction Storm Water <br /> Industrial Activity Permit. <br /> The appropriate SWPPP is available at the site office. <br /> The Contractor shall exercise every reasonable precaution to protect channels, storm drains and <br /> bodies of water from pollution. Pollution control work shall consist of implementing practices or <br /> constructing facilities in accordance with local, state, or federal regulations which may be <br /> required to provide for retention and control of pollutants. Refer to requirements of Section <br /> 01500 Temporary Facilities and Controls. <br /> 1.9 Nuisance Water <br /> It is anticipated that nuisance water, such as rainfall, surface runoff, or ground water may be <br /> encountered within the construction site during the period of construction under this contract. <br /> The Contractor, by submitting his bid, will be held to have investigated the risks arising from <br /> such waters and to have made his bid in accordance therewith. <br /> The Contractor shall at all times protect the work from damage by such waters and shall take all <br /> due measures to prevent delays in progress of the work caused by such waters. The cost for any <br /> repairs due to such damage shall be the responsibility of the Contractor. The Contractor shall <br /> dispose of nuisance water at his own expense and without adverse effects upon the work site or <br /> any other property. Refer to requirements of Section 01500, Paragraph 3.7, Temporary Facilities <br /> and Controls. <br /> 1.10 Drainage Precaution <br /> At the completion of each work day, the Contractor shall take all necessary preventive measures <br /> to avoid or minimize damage resulting in erosion or impounding caused by storm water runoff <br /> within the construction area. Erosion control measures shall consist of constructing sandbag <br /> berms, desilting basins, drains, temporary storm water pumping facilities, and other such <br /> measures required to provide for the prevention, control and abatement of storm water discharges <br /> and damage resulting therefrom. The cost for any repairs due to such damage shall be the sole <br /> responsibility of the Contractor. <br /> FORWARD LANDFILL WMU FU-03 <br /> SC-4 <br />
