In
the late evening, placement of GDM was completed in the northeast corner. Prior to placing the eight-ounce
'*
(8 oz)geotextile, the thickness of the drainage rock was checked with the measuring rod and also placed
using a GPS system attached to the dozers. Operations layer was placed in the west quadrant of the cell
floor, working south to north. The operations layer material was taken from the on site stockpile. Both the
minus 3/8 inch and the minus 1 inch rock were imported until early afternoon using the belly dumps and
transfers, respectively. The coarse rock placed in the sump was graded using the LGP dozer, the geotextile
placed, then the six-inch(6")layer of soil. Work began in the leachate pond removing the gravel and
pumping the water out. After reviewing the plans and looking at the leachate sump pipe, it was discovered
that the pipe and pipe trench had not been built to the proper width as per project plans. The pipe will be
removed and rewelded, the secondary liner opened and the pipe trench widened. The location of the pond
sump pipe was also incorrect and will be corrected.
After receiving an early morning phone call from the GSE foreman,he stated that they would arrive on
site tomorrow morning to perform repairs on the cell floor.
One sieve analysis was completed on the minus 1"coarse grained material to be used in the cell sump and
LCRS"V"ditch pipes. The sieve was within specifications and the Guinn foreman was verbally informed
of the test results.
Prepared By: Reviewed By:
4/23/03,Rev. 0 1 of 1
-9
