The operations layer material was taken from the on site stockpile. Six- inch(6")perforated
pipe and coarse gravel were placed in the FU-03 cell sump,as was the last sump riser pipe. Work continued
in the leachate pond cleaning out the sump rock and pumping out the water in the early morning and placing
the gravel log along the north and east perimeters in the late morning. After receiving a FAX from project
engineer, Sangeeta Lewis, the design of the gravel log had been changed and will include a welded
geomembrane cover over the sewn sixteen-ounce(16 oz)geotextile burrito. In the late morning, one of the
leachate pond ladders was placed on the south slope and the anchor trench backfilled. The southeast comer
of the pond remains open for work on the sump pipe trench expansion.
GSE completed the extrusion welding of the cell sump riser pipe boot and deploying the remaining
geocomposite on the south cell slope. The double layer of geotextile was also placed over the composite
and lystered on the south slope as a protective layer for the pipe. This completed the work to be performed
by GSE on the FU-03 cell and the last two(2)destructive samples for the cell were tested and passed. Three
(3)panels of 60 mil HDPE were deployed, seamed and air tested on the south slope of the leachate pond in
the morning. In the afternoon, extrusion welding over the gravel log began until rain halted further progress.
Leak Location Services, Inc. personnel arrived on site in the late afternoon and stated that they would
begin laying out their testing grid tomorrow morning. They also stated that the east termination edge of the
cell floor liner would have to be uncovered in order for the eastern quarter to be tested.
The granular drainage material sample obtained yesterday for a sieve analysis was prepped for
tomorrow's testing.
Prepared By: Reviewed By:
4/23/03,Rev. 0 1 of 1
r-7
