WMU FU -03, WMU F -West Leachate Impoundment and Desilting Basin February 2004 <br />Forward Landfill Job No. 021605.03 <br />Samples of the GCL were cut from random rolls for conformance testing by the third <br />party testing laboratory at the manufacturing plant in accordance with the CQA manual <br />and project specifications. Conformance testing included tests for: <br />• bentonite mass per unit area (ASTM D-5993); <br />• hydraulic conductivity (ASTM D-5084); <br />• peel strength (ASTM D-4632, modified for 180 degree peel of GCL); and <br />• interface shear strength. <br />Four (4) GCL samples were tested for conformance. Based on 333,390 ft2 of GCL <br />received, the testing frequency was one test per 83,348 ft2, which satisfies the <br />requirement of one test per 100,000 ft2. <br />Interface shear testing was conducted for the GCL/geomembrane/geocomposite <br />interface. Results of the conformance testing indicated that the materials met the <br />requirements of the project specifications. A summary of the conformance test results <br />is presented in Table 7.
