WMU FU-03,WMU F-West Leachate Impoundment and Desilting Basin February 2004
Forward Landfill Job No.021605.03
A geocomposite drainage layer was placed as part of the LCRS for the side slopes of
WMU FU-03. The geocomposite consists of a nonwoven geotextile fused to an HDPE
geonet. A geonet was used in the leachate impoundment between the primary and
secondary geomembrane as a leak detection layer.
5.5.2 Receiving Inspection
Upon arrival by truck shipment, Vector's CQA Monitor observed the unloading and
storage of the geocomposite and geonet rolls. Each roll of geocomposite and geonet
was logged in by roll number and the roll numbers then cross-checked against the
quality control documents provided by the Contractor submittal. Following the
inspection and approval the material was approved for installation. A copy of the
receiving log and manufacturer's certifications for the geocomposite and geonet are
included in Appendix L and M, respectively.
5.5.3 Deployment
The panel deployment procedure was observed and documented by Vector's CQA
Monitor. The CQA Monitor verified that the conditions of the CQA manual were met
during deployment. Vector's CQA Monitor continuously observed deployment activities
to ensure no damage occurred to the underlying components.
The seam overlap, seaming, tie-ins, and other manufacturer's written guidelines were
followed. Vector's CQA Monitor observed that the components of the geocomposite
(geotextile-geonet)were not bonded at the edges of the rolls.
5.5.4 Repair
The materials were checked for defects during deployment and holes or tears were
identified and repaired prior to placement of the cover materials.
Vector Engineering, Inc. - 143E Spring Hill Drive -Grass Valley, CA 95945-(530)272-2448
-31-
