Stage 1A Partial Final Closure February 2006
Forward Landfill Project No.021605.06
® 5.0 GEOSYNTHET►CS CQA
5.1 General Description of Activities
The geosynthetic components of Stage lA closure consisted of geosynthetics
placed as seep collectors on the side slopes, including 60-mil HDPE
geomembrane, geocomposite, and geotextile. The Vector CQA monitor followed
standards of practice to monitor the installation of the geosynthetic
components of the seep collectors, as conformance testing of the geosynthetics
was not required by the technical specifications.
5.2 Geomembrane
A 60-mil thick double-sided textured high-density polyethylene (HDPE)
geomembrane manufactured by GSE was used in the seep collectors for the
Stage lA closure. The remaining geomembrane supplied for construction of
the floor of WMU FU-05 was also used for the seep collectors. This
geomembrane was previously approved and satisfied the project specifications
for use in the Stage lA closure. Documentation on the geomembrane is
included in the FU-05 CQA Report.
5.3 Geotextile
A 12-oz/yd2 geotextile was used as a separation and cushion layer between the
granular drainage material and the geomembrane in the seep collector trenches
to encapsulate the gravel fill and HDPE piping. The remaining geotextile
supplied for construction for the floor of WMU FU-05 was also used for the
seep collectors. This geotextile was previously approved and satisfied the
project specifications for use in the Stage lA closure. Documentation on the
geotextile is included in the FU-05 CQA Report.
Vector Engineering, Inc. • 143E Spring Hill Drive•Grass Valley,CA 95945•(530)272-2448
-16-
