- Guinn completed the grading of the FU -13 cell floor. The sand pocket on the
floor was removed and finer grained material was placed to provide a firm base for
the clay liner.
- Guinn completed removing soil from around the existing leachate tank and
Republic is removing leachate on a daily basis.
- Guinn completed excavation on the 2:1 cut.
- Guinn removed overburden and excavated and processed clay material from the
location further to the east. The clay is being placed in a stockpile. Approximately
5,600 cy have been moved.
3. Projected schedule:
- Guinn will clean out the tie-in with previous WMU's.
- Guinn will rake excess soil from the 2:1 slope.
- Ruben will coordinate with site forces to ensure that any leachate is pumped and
removed from the sump area.
- Guinn will cut the down-slope anchor trench along the NE side of the cell.
- Guinn will wait to hear from Comanco on the liner start date prior to placing clay
liner along the toe of slope.
- Comanco may be able to show up to place liner sooner based on the revised
schedule for Keller Canyon. Comanco will provide an answer later this week.
- The Geogrid should be arriving this week.
4. Field observations, problems, conflicts, and changes:
- None.
5. Issues which impede the construction schedule and corrective measures:
- Guinn removed the topsoil in the additional clay borrow area. RJA surveyed the
top of the topsoil prior to excavation in order to obtain the quantity of material
moved. During the removal of the clay, a major sand pocket was encountered. This
layer of sand may be up to 2 feet thick. This material will be removed and the good
clay below that obtained. GLA is assisting Guinn in identifying the best clay
available. Guinn is separately stockpiling the clay and unsuitable materials. RJA
needs to survey the different layers of materials to quantify the various materials.
Guinn will bill the removal of the materials under the excavation bid item.
C
Forward Landfill WMU FU -13
Progress Meeting Minutes Page 2
