Proposed 320-acre Site Location ( cont 'd)
Figure IV also depicts 2 additional possible sites of 320
acres . However, site "A 11 is considered to be the most desirable
in terms of distance from Lodi and close proximity to the
present site .
For the purpose of this report, Site "A" is therefore
recommended for consideration as the replacement site.
The estimated land costs of $550 per acre will result in total
land acquisition costs of $176, 000. (Appendix A)
The suitability of Site "A"--or any site--for a landfill
purpose will need to be determined by a comprehensive Geotechnical
Investigation as required by the Water Quality Control Board to
meet the environmental standards .
The procedure for the acquisition of any site for landfill
purposes would therefore require a determination of availability
with an option to purchase in order to institute appropriate
Geotechnical Investigations .
The scope of the Geotechnical Investigation will include
but not limited to the following:
1) Drill sufficient holes on site to evaluate
geological conditions .
2) Evaluate 100 year flood effects on site.
3) Determine permeability of soils .
4) Design seals, if necessary, for permeable zones .
5) Design monitoring wells .
6) Design Environmental controls.
7) Develop appropriate criteria for landfill operation
based on geology of site.
8) Develop methods of disposal for difficult disposal
- 20 -
