Prior to July 1, 1990, it
was owned jointly by the city of Tracy and the County, and was
operated by the City of Tracy through an agreement with the
County. In July of 1990 the County acquired 100% ownership
and operation of the site. The landfill is scheduled for
closure by January, 1995. The landfill is operated under
Solid Waste Facilities Permit Number 39-AA-005, and Waste
Discharge Requirement Order Number 89-046.
In 1990, 115,856 tons of solid waste from the
unincorporated area were disposed of at County disposal sites.
About 400 tons of waste from the Thornton area in the
northwest part of the County were disposed at a Sacramento
County Landfill. From the Lovelace Transfer Station, 11,516
tons of waste were delivered to the Stanislaus Waste-to-Energy
plant. Of that material, 6, 172 tons originated in the
unincorporated area of the County.
The County does not import wastes from other
jurisdictions for disposal at County sites. However, some of
the self-haulers do bring waste from neighboring counties.
Chapter 1 - Introduction 9
