Drilling equipment shall be clean of previous environmental contamination. <br /> Equipment will be inspected by the Engineer for fluid leaks which could potentially <br /> mix with and contaminate site materials. Deficient equipment shall be rejected, to <br /> be replaced by acceptable equipment at no additional cost to the County. <br /> H. Do not use drilling muds or liquids. <br /> ' I. Distribute spoils of well borings per the Engineer in the vicinity of the boring unless <br /> otherwise prohibited. <br /> J. Subsurface litter or wood wastes encountered during drilling shall be disposed in a <br /> contractor provided container, or removed from the work area, and the work area <br /> ' left in a neat and orderly condition on a daily basis. <br /> K. Uncompleted Borings: <br /> ' 1. Provide secure, vandal-proof covers and apply safety precautions for all <br /> uncompleted borings. <br /> 2. Measure and record depth of uncompleted borings left overnight prior to <br /> commencement of drilling on the next day. Re-drill collapsed borings at <br /> no additional cost to the County. <br /> L. Abandoned Borings <br /> 1. If impenetrable obstructions are encountered during drilling, the <br /> Contractor shall cease drilling and promptly notify the Engineer. The <br /> Engineer will determine whether to abandon or to complete the well to <br /> the specified depth. <br /> 2. Borings not completed as soil gas wells shall be backfilled with neat <br /> cement as soon as possible. <br />
