The Contractor shall maintain the well pipe vertical and centered in the hole during <br />the backfill operation of the bore. If the well pipe is installed out of plumb, the <br />Contractor shall correct the alignment by removing the well pipe, re -drill the <br />borehole to the depth specified and then install the well pipe plumb. <br />F. Bentonite plugs shall be hydrated in the borehole as directed by the Engineer. <br />Excessive water shall not be used. <br />G. If a well is not completed by the end of the day and is to be left open, the Contractor <br />shall cover the top opening of the bore hole by placing plastic sheeting, one -inch - <br />thick plywood, or approved equivalent to prevent any landfill gas escaping in to the <br />atmosphere. The Contractor shall cordon off the area with safety ribbon and <br />barricades. At all times, the Contractor shall be responsible to enforce Cal OSHA <br />Health and Safety requirements and secure the construction area. <br />3.05 PIPING <br />All piping excavation and backfill shall be coordinated with the EHD inspector. All piping shall <br />comply with Technical Specification Section 02750 — High Density Polyethylene (HDPE) <br />Piping. <br />A. LFG Well Lateral <br />a. All lateral trenches shall be per the depth specified in the construction <br />drawings. <br />b. When trenching, the Contractor shall remove existing drainage ditch <br />erosion control mats in the line of the trench. <br />c. LFG well laterals shall be installed per the grades specified on the <br />construction drawings. <br />B. Trench Backfill <br />1. Lateral trench backfill soil shall be free of any refuse or rocks larger than 1 <br />inch. Contractor can use soil from the retention pond when needed. <br />2. Sand bedding shall be compacted firmly using a vibratory plate. <br />3. Soil backfill shall be moistened and tamped. A jumping jack tamper should be <br />used. <br />4.
