® MW-5:
No general water quality parameter concentration limits where limits could be determined were
exceeded in MW-5 during the first or second semester 2012 sampling events with the exception
of Turbidity, which was exceeded during the first semester 2012 sampling event.
Two VOCs (CFC-12 and PCE) were detected in MW-5 during the first and second semester 2012
Sampling events
MW-5 was installed between the sewage treatment ponds from the migrant labor camp and the
landfill 2 portion of the site to determine if the treatment ponds were contributing constituents to
groundwater. MW-6 was installed upgradient of the treatment ponds. A review of the general
chemical constituents on Table 1 indicate that the treatment ponds appear to act as source of
constituents to groundwater. In general, several constituents are lower in background well MW-6,
then rise in well MW-5, and then fall in well MW-4. This is illustrated below:
Monitoring Wells
Constituent MW-6 MW-5 MW-4
(Newly installed (Newly installed (downgradient)
upgradient) South of ponds
North of MW-4)
® EC (us/cm) 1,011 1,061 854.8
Calcium (mg/L) 22 94 55
Magnesium (mg/L) 9.8 52 29
Alkalinity 100 390 140
(as CaCO3, mg/L)
Hardness 94 450 260
(as CaCO3, mg/L)
MW-6:
MW-6 was installed upgradient of all landfill portions of the site to determine background alkalinity
levels. A review of the alkalinity levels indicates that with the exception of well MW-5 the other
wells generally fall within the same range as -6 and MW-1 the background wells (Table 1).
No general water quality parameter concentration limits where limits could be determined were
exceeded in MW-6 during the first or second semester 2012 sampling events.
No VOCs were observed in MW-6 during the first or second semester 2012 sampling events.
Harney Lane Sanitary Landfill 12 Department of Public Works/Solid Waste
2nd Semester and Annual 2012 Groundwater Monitoring Report County of San Joaquin—January 25,2013
